Carbon13 in Europe: Introduction for Founders
Carbon13 is launching its Venture Builder programme for founders in the EU.
Upcoming webinar dates:
9th February 2023- 17:00-18:00 GMT/ 18:00-19:00 CET

About this Event
Carbon13 is bringing its Venture Builder programme to Europe for the first time. Starting in February 2023, founders will use our eight-month programme to build high potential ventures in decarbonisation or carbon removal.
In this webinar, the Carbon13 Europe team will introduce the programme for founders interested in launching their startups in the EU, explain how the programme works, and why we set the goal of 10 million tonnes of CO2e emissions mitigation for the ventures we invest in. There will be plenty of Q&A as well.
Who this webinar is for
This webinar is for anyone who wants to become a founder of a high impact climatetech venture. Whether you’re already working on a decarbonisation/CDR idea or developing relevant IP, or are new to climate entrepreneurship, this webinar will help you understand how you would use the Venture Builder to launch your venture.
You can come from any professional background, our cohorts are made up of scientists, developers, entrepreneurs, corporate innovators, sustainability experts and more.
You may also be part of a cofounding team already, though most founders come to us because they’re looking for a committed cofounder with the same appetite for innovation that they have.
You should also be intending to base your venture in Germany or the EU and have the legal right to work in the EU.
About Carbon13
Carbon13’s eight-month Venture Builder programme supports a cohort of 70+ founders to form cofounding teams and develop their ideas into a commercially successful venture capable of reducing emissions by millions of tonnes.
If you want to fight climate change, then Carbon13 is currently the strongest launchpad for you to build a decarbonisation venture from scratch—we’ve made pre-seed investments in 32 teams in the last 12 months. 10 of those are building hardtech solutions in areas such as waste, battery storage, methane capture, renewable energy, construction and composite recycling.
We only work with early stage founders who can team up with serial entrepreneurs, carbon experts and industry folks (who make up the rest of our cohorts) to build ventures that can reduce emissions by 10 million tonnes a year.
How does Carbon13 work?
On Carbon13 you are building a startup as part of a cohort of 70+ founders. You are not sat in a room being told what you already know. Our programme is designed to 10x the work you’re doing, because the planet doesn’t have time to waste on theory or incremental ideas.
Phase 1: Teaming & Ideation in 6 weeks
You will find a cofounder in the first 6 weeks. As a technical founder you most likely will team up with a founder with a proven track record in founding startups or leadership in emitting sectors. 90% of the 70+ founders on the cohort form teams within 6 weeks.
Phase 2: Validation in 9 weeks
Your team will intensely work on:
Team strengthening | Carbon intelligence | Rapid iterations of concepts | Business model forming | Prototype testing | Intellectual property | Customer development | Stakeholder development | Behaviour change | Governance | Venture incorporation
Phase 3: Acceleration in 4 months
After Phase 2, we invest pre-seed into 12-14 ventures. They then use Phase 3 to focus on market, product, business model and strategy to prepare the venture for further seed-stage investment. We also help you look at scaling strategies, managing growth pains, developing a funding strategy, and introduce you to dozens of investors.
The next cohort will begin in Berlin on the 18th April 2023. Applications open now.
