Wood and biomass are renewable fuels. They are still used for domestic heating in various places – rural areas, developing countries and more. They are popular because they are simple to use and do not require infrastructure.

The problem is that they are extremely polluting. They produce carcinogens and particles much more than other types of fuel. My aim is to reduce this pollution, thus making them a more viable alternative.

This can be done by increasing the air supply to the combustion chamber – particles are created when there is not enough air. This needs to be done without using external power, so my suggestion is to have something similar to turbo-charger in car engines. The stove will heat water (this also will help with heat time management); some of the hot water will be used to rotate a turbine, that will be connected to a compressor that will feed the air to the combustion chamber.
