Avero’s Vision

Avero exists to solve a major bottleneck in aviation decarbonisation: an auditable, standardised, digital system that ensures every litre of SAF is real, compliant, and traceable.

Our vision is to become the trusted compliance and verification backbone for global SAF and future low-carbon fuels.

The platform will:

• Integrate CI/LCA data, fuel certificates, and mandates
• Provide digital monitoring, reporting and verification (dMRV)
• Offer real-time audit trails for airlines, fuel producers and verifiers
• Enable Scope 1 and Scope 3 reporting
• Prevent double counting across jurisdictions

Responsibilities

As CTO / Founding Technical Lead, you will:

• · Architect/ continue to architect the platform (backend, APIs, integrations, data layer).
• · Lead the technical roadmap, MVP build and long-term scaling strategy.
• · Translate regulatory and commercial requirements into system design.
• · Build secure, audit-ready compliance workflows.
• · Integrate with registries, LCA/CI models, airline systems and verifiers.
• · Set up cloud infrastructure, security, DevOps and data structures.
• · Eventually hire and manage the engineering team.
• · Act as a partner in strategy, product decisions and investor discussions.

Key Requirements

• · Strong backend engineering experience (ideally 8+ years).
• · Proven experience building scalable SaaS platforms.
• · Strong understanding of APIs, databases, system architecture, cloud, and security.
• · Ability to translate complex requirements into clear product logic.
• · Ownership-driven, collaborative mindset.
• · Ability to build and lead the engineering function of a startup.

Nice-to-Haves

• · Experience in climate tech, carbon accounting, digital MRV or LCA/CI systems.
• · Experience in aviation, energy, fuels or supply-chain systems.
• · Understanding of data lineage, emissions modelling or compliance workflows.
• · Experience with enterprise software or regulated industries.
• · Experience in a startup environment.

Equity and Compensation

• This is a pre-investment role with no salary initially.
