Free
Min Dhillon, Head of Capital at Carbon13, introduces our SEIS Fund VII and how we deploy capital into deeptech startups in climate

This webinar constitutes a financial promotion and is directed only at Professional investors and self-certified High Net-Worth, Sophisticated and Restricted Retail investors.

Carbon13’s programmes build ventures, but the Carbon13 SEIS Fund is the rocket fuel that launches them.

When investors choose our funds, they invest in startups aiming to disrupt global industries and bring forth the next gen of technologies such as:

  • AI
  • Nanotechnology
  • Robotics
  • Alternative chemicals

While taking advantage of such tax benefits as:

  • Income tax relief of 50%
  • Capital gains tax exemption
  • Loss relief on investments that fail

This webinar will show you how we do this.

We’ve deployed £8million across six funds into 51 startups since 2021, and our seventh is currently open for this tax year (2024/2025).

In this webinar we will:

  • Introduce what a SEIS Fund is and why it’s a Government scheme for investing in startups with tax benefits such as Capital Gains exemption
  • Explain how Carbon13 builds our own dealflow by working with the most talented entrepreneurs in the UK before anyone else.
  • Take you through how we invest and build deeptech startups – some of the hardest to scale but with the largest potential for global breakthroughs.

Who’s this webinar for?

This webinar is for individuals who want to explore investing in the Carbon13 SEIS Fund which will be deployed in this tax year (2024/2025). You do not need to be an investor already, if you’re new to SEIS we can take you through the Scheme.

Please do your own research to check whether you qualify as a Professional Client, High Net Worth Individual or Self Certified Sophisticated Investor. More information can be found on our partners’ explainer here: https://www.syndicateroom.com/seis

About Carbon13

Carbon13 is known for investing in high potential climatetech ventures and this SEIS Fund VII will be no different. We invest in climatetech because of the scale of the opportunity and urgency of the climate emergency – and we target returns just like any other startup fund.

Our current portfolio is collectively worth over £225million, with a decarbonisation potential of 500 million megatonnes of CO2e per year by 2040 – that’s 1% of the globe’s current annual emissions.

About SEIS

The Seed Enterprise Investment Scheme (SEIS) is the government’s scheme to incentivise private investors to invest in startups by giving tax relief on the investments – which are a high risk and illiquid investment, especially when compared to stocks and shares portfolios.

The tax benefits include:

  • Income tax relief of 50%
  • Capital gains tax exemption
  • Loss relief on investments that fail
  • Reinvestment relief
  • Inheritance tax relief

Through SEIS, you can invest in a specific startup, or in a fund – like the Carbon13 SEIS Fund. Around £150million is invested in startups each year through the scheme.
