Exploring the potential of the Oceans with Joyeeta Das, CEO of Samudra Oceans

March 7 @ 12:00 - 13:00 GMT

Register online: Exploring ClimateTech: Part 1 – Exploring the potential of the oceans | Barclays Eagle Labs (uk.barclays)

Speaker: Joyeeta Das, Co-Founder and CEO of Samudra Oceans

“I had a realisation that the most powerful entity, which has the potential to reverse the greatest global crisis we have ever faced, is the ocean.” Join Joyeeta Das, the CEO of Samudra Oceans who has fused her expertise as an electronics engineer, physicist, and deep tech entrepreneur to harness the incredible potential of seaweed to combat the climate crisis.

Samudra Oceans are tackling the challenge of marine engineering robotics and AI to grow seaweed at mass scale. Samudra incorporated at Carbon13 to integrate robotics into a new kind of smart farm that would harness the power of the ocean without being capital-intensive or harmful to the environment. In the future a lot more food will be grown in water through aquaculture and Samudra’s approach advocates for the growth of small to medium-scale farms, prioritising sustainability and moving away from large monoculture practices.

Joyeeta stands as a prominent figure in the UK’s deep-tech sector, with over a decade of experience and multiple Ivy League qualifications. Her entrepreneurial journey includes three successful startups, highlighting her expertise and business acumen.

In her role, Joyeeta actively contributes to the tech and data science community as a board member of global companies, emphasising her commitment to technology for social good. Her achievements are recognised through prestigious accolades, including being an Ambassador for Innovate UK Women in Tech, featuring in the Financial Times BAME 100 list, MIT 35 under 35 shortlist, and earning titles like KPMG Outpacer and TiE Woman of the Year. Her efforts in promoting diversity in technology led to the UK Pioneering Woman in Tech award from Diversity UK.
