(Founding) Full Stack Engineer

Role summary:

Join us as a Founding Full-Stack Software Engineer to build the web platform that powers scientific experimentation at Differential Bio. You’ll focus on frontend and backend development—currently using https://fastapi.tiangolo.com/ and https://vuejs.org/—to create intuitive tools for scientists to run and interpret virtual experiments. This interface is core to delivering our mission and shaping how users engage with our technology. You’ll work directly with the CTO (Martin Patz), influence the tech stack (nothing is set in stone), and help define the foundation of a lean, high-trust engineering team tackling impactful challenges in sustainable biomanufacturing.

Key responsibilities:

• Build and maintain full-stack web applications—currently using Python (FastAPI) and Vue.js.
• Influence and evolve the entire web stack—we’re open to change and value strong technical input.
• Design intuitive user experiences for running and interpreting virtual experiments.
• Likely touch other parts of the stack—data pipelines, model deployment, infra—as needed.

Qualifications:

• Strong software engineering skills with a focus on web technologies (backend + frontend).
• Experience with Python, containerization (Docker), and Git-based workflows, including CI/CD.
• Familiarity with modern ML tooling (PyTorch, MLflow, etc.).
• Proven ability to learn and adapt across projects and domains quickly.

Nice to have:

• Experience with FastAPI, Vue.js, and cloud-based data infra (e.g., S3, Supabase, https://docs.lamin.ai/lamindb).
• Exposure to scientific applications, virtual experimentation, or biotech tools.
• Prior startup or early-stage experience with high ownership roles.
• Comfort operating with high transparency, autonomy, and shifting priorities.
