Carbon13 partners with geovation to accelerate geospatial climate innovation

Carbon13 is delighted to add Geovation to our roster of ecosystem supporters, putting geospatial climate innovation firmly at the centre of the map.

Geovation is the creation of the Ordnance Survey and HM Land Registry, and has become an effective innovation ecosystem with accelerator programmes, coworking space, events, insights and more. Carbon13 alumni have already benefitted from their support, including Kestrix and Agrasta, so it is a joy to evolve our mutual respect into an official partnership.

The Carbon13 Venture Builder cohorts can now deep dive into geospatial data when ideating and refining their solution. Early on, we’re seeing this data be most interesting for startups working in the built environment space, or agriculture and biodiversity, but really there’s potential in most sectors.

A physical home for data-based insights

For Cohort 7, Geovation was our home from home in London, hosting the 80-strong cohort in Farringdon. Our founders received tailored sessions and tech clinics designed to help them understand how to integrate geospatial data and location-based insights into their value proposition.

About Geovation

Geovation is an innovation accelerator for the geospatial and property technology sectors, offering mentorship to startups, access to a vast community of experts, and resources to help them scale their solutions, with a focus on leveraging location data to address global challenges.

Geovation’s mission is to foster innovation through the creative use of geospatial data, thereby fueling the future market and contributing to economic growth.

“This collaboration between Geovation and Carbon13 showcases the power of strategic partnerships in building a sustainable and hopeful future. By supporting the Venture Builder UK programme, we not only strengthen the impact of geospatial technology within the Climatetech arena, but also encourage innovative solutions that can lead to significant global transformations. Working together, we are forging pathways that foster impactful entrepreneurship through the interchange of data, technology, and sustainability.”

CEO, Ordnance Survey

We at Carbon13 want to elevate awareness of geospatial data’s potential amongst founders and investors alike. We’ll be connecting Geovation with our early-stage founders  and encourage the fostering of knowledge and growth. By building a pipeline of startups leveraging geospatial technology and integrating them into Geovation’s wider community, this partnership aims to accelerate innovation at the intersection of data, technology, and sustainability.

The Geovation Community Hub hosted the Venture Builder UK programme

“Partnering with Geovation and gaining access to the expertise and resources of Ordnance Survey offers an incredible opportunity for Carbon13’s early-stage climate founders. This collaboration enables our startups to harness geospatial data and leverage a powerful support network, allowing them to move faster and grow more strategically. Together, we’re equipping founders with the tools and insights needed to shape resilient, data-driven businesses that prioritise the health of our planet.”

If you’re interested in learning more about Geovation then you’re welcome to reach out to us at Carbon13 for an introduction or explore their geospatial innovation ecosystem for yourself:

“Agrasta has been very fortunate to take part in both the Carbon13 venture builder and Geovation’s geospatial accelerator programme. Carbon13 offered mentors and industry professionals who provided valuable support and advice, generating key commercial connections and helping to build a realistic business model.

Geovation’s accelerator not only provided the building blocks to refine the proposition and take the business on to the next stage but also offered additional expertise from their inhouse technical team who have second to none knowledge of the geospatial ecosystem.

The two programmes complement one another, and their combined force will give unparalleled advice, contacts and expertise to any climate start up that uses geospatial data.”
