The Solution

Ki-Hydrogen have developed new technology that turns biomass waste into a low-cost, low-carbon hydrogen alternative. Delivering dual-benefit, recycling waste and using it for fuel creates a circular system that can be integrated into industrial processes on a structural level.

The Problem

Hydrogen is an essential energy source in a range of industrial processes from refining, ammonia to steel. Currently, green hydrogen coming from water electrolysis has a slow adoption rate beacuse it is still very expensive and energy intensive. This is one of the reasons that 99% of hydrogen still comes from fossil fuels.

Impact

Currently, Ki-Hydrogen are working on becoming economically competitive. Their goals is to achieve hydrogen production at $2/kg. If successful, this technology could drastically scale the adoption of clean hydrogen. This would be particularly impactful in high-carbon emitting, heavy industrial processes such as steelmaking, cement and industrial heat.
