Sara Jones

Head of Marketing

Sara has over a decade of experience working in startups, specialising in the messy early stages which need clarity, speed, and hustle. This journey led to her joining Carbon13 as the first employee where she works on bringing the best founders to our programmes. Sara brings her years of marketing experience to growing Carbon13 across digital, content, and comms. Sara holds a First Class degree in Classics from UCL and is an alumna of the New Entrepreneurs Foundation and Founders of the Future.

Simon Dierks

Country Lead Germany

Simon holds a Master’s degree in Communication and Marketing with a research focus on trust building. In his more than 10 years of experience in marketing, he has consulted deeptech start-ups on marketing and financing strategies, as well as being responsible for marketing and communication in an internationally operating climate tech start-up.
Since November 2022, he is Head of Marketing Europe at Carbon13 and is excited about the multitude and diversity of great talents, teams and ideas.

Anneleen Van Malderen

Operations Manager

Anneleen obtained a bachelor’s degree in journalism in Belgium. After moving to the UK, she gained significant administrative and managerial experience working in several companies including deep-tech start-ups. At Carbon13 she manages the day-to-day operations including finance, HR-related and everything else needed to keep the business running.

Min Dhillon

Min Dhillon

Principal

Min has extensive experience across partnership development, business strategy and go-to-market. Prior to joining Carbon13, he was the UK strategy lead at Eventbrite, pre and post IPO. He has over 10 years of experience spanning technology startups to multi-nationals. Having led on much of the fundraising for Carbon13, he has been responsible for securing over £8m to deploy into our ventures.

Jordan Torch

Jordan Torch

Reporting & Compliance Lead

Jordan holds a BA in Urban and Russian Studies from Rhodes College in Memphis, TN. While there, she worked in community development in the non-profit sector. She also holds an MSc in Planning and Development from Queen’s University Belfast where she got the chance to engage with sustainability efforts across multiple sectors. Jordan is very excited to be a part of the Carbon13 team!
Paul Hodgson

Paul Hodgson

Director of Technology and Operations

Paul is a highly experienced and versatile technology and agile product leader with over 30 years of experience. Formerly, he worked in software development, support, training, management and mentoring tech startups. Paul was one of the first AI product managers in 1999 and specialises in automation and software product management. He holds a finance degree and a masters in information technology.
Jack Williams-Sharkey

Jack Williams-Sharkey

Programme Manager

Jack holds a Bachelor’s degree in History with German, and a Master’s degree in Conflict, Security, and Development, both from the University of Exeter. In completing these, he became interested in the development issues facing the global community and how he could help to solve them. Jack has worked in education, community development, and humanitarian aid in the non-profit sector and is thrilled to now be supporting Carbon13’s teams.
Mai Silk

Mai Silk

Programme Lead

Mai is Programme Manager (UK) for Carbon13’s Venture Builder and Venture Launchpad. She manages the events and operations of the programmes; supporting entrepreneurs to team, incorporate, finance and launch climate tech ventures. She is one of the first points of contact for cohort members and is responsible for Carbon13’s Domain Experts. She has a Bachelor of Science in Psychology and is keen to pursue her passion in sustainability.

Stephanie Alys

Director of Entrepreneurship

Stephanie is Director of Entrepreneurship at Carbon13, responsible for finding and backing exceptional founders & teams to build impactful climate ventures. She’s been with Carbon13 since 2021, initially leading the team of Entrepreneurs in Residence to provide operational and strategic support to all teams coming through our programmes.
Prior to Carbon13, Stephanie’s career focused on the Energy and Health sectors. She has spent time both in-house and as a Strategy Consultant in renewables, and holds an MSc in Energy and Climate Policy. Stephanie cofounded MysteryVibe, one of the category-defining sextech startups, exiting in 2019. She sits on the Advisory Board of the Vagina Museum.

Programme Manager

Marina is an outgoing and motivated Brazilian who holds a Bachelor’s degree in Public Administration and a Master’s degree in Sustainability Science, having studied sustainable development in the Brazilian Amazon Forest. She has almost 4 years of experience working in marketing, sustainability, and project management at Unilever Brazil. Marina is happy to use her diverse skills to support climate tech entrepreneurs as Carbon13’s Programme Officer.
Hailey Sockalingam

Hailey Sockalingam

Programme Officer

Hailey holds a Bachelor’s degree in History from the University of Oxford. She has two years of experience in research and events within the built environment sector, working closely with local government to shape approaches to the design, delivery, and dissemination of city-level transformation. Through this work, she became interested in the potential of innovation clusters to drive the scale and pace of change needed to tackle climate change. Hailey is thrilled to now be supporting climate innovation through Carbon13’s teams.

David Gill

David Gill

David has been CEO of the St John’s Innovation Centre in Cambridge since 2008. He previously ran the Innovation & Technology Unit at HSBC Bank in London (1997-2004). A Sloan Fellow at the Stanford Graduate School of Business in California (2004-05), he is an Visiting Fellow at the Institute of Manufacturing (University of Cambridge Department of Engineering), a non-executive director of the European Business Network and NXD of several firms specialising in financing early-stage, high-potential businesses.
