An Introduction to Carbon13 SEIS Funds for angels

For the mini-masterclass, we’ll share example startups from our portfolio including startups working on AI, bioengineering, robotics, and energy.
For those of you new to SEIS, we’ll illustrate how the UK gov scheme brings tax benefits such as:
- Income tax relief of 50%
- 100% capital gains tax exemption
- 100% inheritance tax exemption
- Loss relief on investments that fail
- And others

£242 million was invested through SEIS in the last tax year alone.
Carbon13’s track record
We’ve invested in 100 startups since 2021, 64 of them through SEIS funds. Notable portfolio startups include Cocoon Carbon (decarbonising steel/cement), MatNex (AI for materials discovery), Kita (insurancetech), Ki Hydrogen (green hydrogen) and Bluemethane (methane capture).
All our investments are built through our Venture Builder and Accelerator programmes. A typical cohort on our Venture Builder will include 40% PhDs, 12+years experience on avg, 50% serial entrepreneurs and 38% female founders.
