Anzen Raises £1.1M to Deliver Scalable, Low-Carbon Heating for Underserved Homes

We are pleased to share that Anzen, pioneers in the home energy space, has successfully raised £1.1 million in pre-seed funding. This marks a significant step forward in the development of its solid-state heat pump technology. Anzen was part of the third cohort of our Venture Launchpad Programme and is one of our fantastic portfolio ventures.

Anzen’s journey began with a clear and personal understanding of the challenges many households face with traditional heating systems. The company’s founders, Preethi Jayakumar and Dhruv Shah, were driven by real-world frustrations—ranging from poor ventilation and mould to health issues caused by inadequate heating. These experiences highlighted a broader issue: millions of homes remain underserved by current low-carbon heating solutions, which are often too costly, complex, or unsuitable for smaller or older properties.

Rather than targeting the easier-to-retrofit, “able-to-pay” segment of the market, Anzen chose to focus on the more challenging end—homes in fuel poverty and those with structural limitations. The result is a first-of-its-kind, plug-and-play solid-state heat pump that is refrigerant-free and can be installed in under a day. This approach not only simplifies the installation process but also promotes healthier indoor environments.

A Simpler, Smarter Approach to Heating That Puts People First

In just 18 months, Anzen has moved from concept to CE-certified systems now undergoing testing. The company’s broader mission is ambitious: to decarbonise one million homes by 2035. Its technology is designed to adapt to household needs with variable power consumption and aims to support zero-waste energy use.

This funding round was led by Desai Ventures and Green Angel Ventures, with early backing from Carbon13 and additional support from Sustainable Ventures, Colbridge Ventures, One Planet Capital, and others. Their collective belief in Anzen’s vision has been instrumental in reaching this milestone.
