Carbon13 launches eighth SEIS Fund
Together with our Fund Manager Syndicate Room, Carbon13 is raising our next SEIS Fund to fuel more high potential climatetech ventures across energy, materials, food systems, and more.
Carbon13 is delighted to announce that we’re opening our second fund with Syndicate Room, following on from SEIS Fund VII which invested in eight ventures in March 2025.
This SEIS Fund VIII will close in October and will be deployed in this tax year (2025/2026) into 5-10 more high potential ventures.

Join our next in-person event for investors exploring our Fund. We’ll discuss dealflow, our climate impact ambition, and introduce SEIS and its tax benefits. Special guest Phil Hunter of Nium, a nanotech company reinventing green ammonia.

More than just a fund
Carbon13’s SEIS Fund has exclusive rights to ventures built through our Venture Builder programme. To understand the Fund’s Right To Win, you have to understand the strength of the programme that underpins it.
Talent
Carbon13 is a talent-first Venture Builder, meaning we are a magnet for Europe’s leading founders who come to us to start their venture, often before they even have an idea or a team. We’re selecting them first on the basis of their potential as a founder.
Once they join the 80-strong cohort, they form cofounding teams – one of the most significant value-adds for our founders. A quarter of these cohorts usually holds a PhD, and the average age is 37, with half having founded a startup before.
The team can be the strongest part of a startup – but also the riskiest for a pre-seed investor. Our Venture Builder de-risks the teaming process, ensuring that by the time they pitch for our investment, we know the team intimately. We know which teams have the complementary skillsets, the aligned vision, mission and strategy, and the commitment to the journey.
Ecosystem
When you invest in our fund, your investment is benefitting from one of the strongest climatetech ecosystems. There are over 400 Domain Experts, dozens of investor partners, corporate partners such as Barclays Eagle Labs, Siemens Energy and Arm.
This ensures our startups are building what the world needs, what their customers need, and what the planet needs.
Track Record
We’ve invested in 90 startups since 2021, we’ve delivered 12 Venture Builders, 5 Venture Launchpad accelerators and worked with over 1400 founders. This is a repeatable process.
Follow-on investors into our portfolio include Octopus Ventures, Planet A, Cambridge Enterprise, DCVC and Pale Blue Dot.
10% of our portfolio is Earth Shot nominated, and collectively the portfolio has a potential to reduce emissions by 500 million tonnes of CO2e per year.
Past performance is not a reliable indicator of future results.
